If you are a veteran and experience chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, or PTSD, you could benefit from a VA massage. Here at Skin Deep Clinical Skin Care & Day Spa, we follow the guidelines within the VHA Whole Health System of Care. Here are a few things you should know about our VA massage services.
- Know the Benefits: One of the most commonly known benefits of massages is the relaxation they bring. Our VA massage services can also help to increase circulation, relieve muscle tension and joint pain, etc. Our massage treatments can also help with pain perception, inflammation, and sleep. We can also help alleviate stress with our calming environment and human touch during the massage.
- Know Your Eligibility: VA massage therapy can fall under medical and therapeutic massage therapy within the VHA Whole Health System of Care. A medical care team can deem massage therapy clinically necessary and allow for your eligibility for this type of massage service. You can also contact your local VA and Whole Health Point of Contact to check your eligibility.
- The Initial Session: The VA typically provides an initial 60-minute massage therapy session to evaluate each veteran’s unique needs, areas of tension, and health goals. This comprehensive first visit allows your therapist to develop a personalized treatment plan focused on your specific concerns—whether that includes chronic pain relief, injury recovery, stress reduction, or enhanced circulation.
- Following Sessions: Following your initial appointment, most veterans are approved for 11 additional massage sessions, each lasting 30 minutes, to maintain progress and encourage continued healing. These follow-up treatments are an important part of ongoing wellness, helping to relieve pain, improve range of motion, and promote relaxation.
